Welcome! Let me introduce myself…
Erin Van Patter
She /Her Registered Social Worker, MSW, RSW Psychotherapist
It can be so hard to know where to start, what to do, how to do it, and what it all means. People are complicated. Life is, too. Feeling overwhelmed, lost, uncertain, or nervous about beginning (or getting back into) therapy is so normal. That’s why I’m here and love doing what I do. I’ll help clear the path and provide knowledge, expertise, and insight as you navigate life’s obstacles. I draw the best parts from many of the amazing existing therapeutic styles so that you get exactly what you need (and want!).
Erin focuses on helping teens, adults, and families improve their wellness and manage their mental health. Using a client-centered approach, she incorporates various evidence-based modalities into her practice, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, strengths-based work, and components of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Her professional approach places emphasis on building a strong and trusting relationship, so that each client feels seen, heard, and understood throughout the time spent together. Her non-judgmental and anti-oppressive practice often includes humour and always includes a great deal of empathy to make the experience as comfortable and as positive as possible.
Erin’s approach works best with folks who are curious about themselves and the world they live in, interested in making change in their life, and looking for a productive yet relaxed therapeutic experience.
“All you’ve got to do is show up. I’ll help with the rest.”
