Excited to Connect!
Amanda Schmalz
She /Her Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MACP
To me, therapy is all about the connection you have with the therapist and how the two of you can develop a safe and open relationship that fosters growth. It’s hard to know from a few short paragraphs whether that connection will be there, but I hope you will be able to feel it soon after sitting down with me. I am a “people person” first, and my greatest joy in life comes from my relationships with all different types of people. I am excited to learn about your story, hear your struggles, and make a plan together. I have been through quite a lot myself and am not afraid to share that with my clients in order for them to feel heard, understood, and supported in the craziness life can hit us with.
Amanda specializes in treating children, teenagers and adults through various mental health and life adversities. Whether it be baby or pregnancy loss, grief, divorce, parenting, relationship conflict, anxiety, depression, OCD or personality disorders, Amanda has unique interests and experiences to support you. Amanda has worked as a teacher primarily in special education for the last 12 years supporting students with their academic and social/emotional needs. Over the last 5-7 years she has become extremely passionate about mental health and is excited to finally take that interest into a new career path.
Amanda will work with you to decide the best course of treatment based on your needs whether that be Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy or Emotion-Focused Therapy.
“Life can feel so busy and stressful, with very little time to ourselves. Therapy is a unique and dedicated time to work on yourself, your relationships and your own growth and healing. It’s a time to get curious and learn about the one person we can never truly escape. Therapy is distinctly yours. Every person will have a different experience based on who you are and what you need. We will laugh, cry, struggle and grow but ultimately we will feel and connect and from there, we will emerge stronger.”
